An ant colony simulator for people who actually like ants.
About the game
insignificANTS is a mobile ant colony simulator for people who already find ants interesting. Not a tower-defense game with ants in it. Not a base-builder that uses ant graphics. A simulator about the actual creatures.
Watch your colony grow over time and compete with rival colonies. Get involved and feed ants, squish them, or even step inside an individual ant and contribute to your colony personally. The systems running underneath are built to reflect how real colonies actually behave: foraging trails, caring for their young (the brood), scouting, raiding rival colonies, and much more.
The single ant may be insignificant, but together a colony becomes more.
What you'll do
Set up your queen and let the colony develop on its own time. Foragers leave pheromone trails. Brood matures into workers. The colony competes with others for food and space. Sometimes striking a balance, sometimes ending in war.
Drop extra food for the ants to discover. Adjust the environment and colony preferences. Squish individual ants, if you must.
Step into a single ant and experience the colony from inside. Grow through the lifecycle of a newborn ant, support your colony as a nurse, builder, and forager. Follow trails, encounter rival colonies, and ensure your colony's survival, for the Queen!
Red vs Black, only one family of ants will dominate the yard! Enjoy a special game mode where red and black ant colonies compete to claim the yard as their own. Instead of all colonies acting on their own, ants of the same color team up together.

The closed playtest
insignificANTS is in active development, and feedback from people who actually keep, study, or enjoy ants is the most valuable input we can get. The first round of closed playtesting opens soon. Sign up below to be considered.
